Once upon a time, I visited my ustad (Al-Qur’an teacher) to discuss several things. We discussed many things, and when it comes to Al-Qur’an, I ask him about my intention to teach Al-Qur’an using an online method as an alternative to a hundred methods out there. Two hesitations made me need to ask him directly.
- How if I teach the wrong recitation or wrong tajweed?
- How if my student reception differs from my explanation?
His answers were shocking and open my mind. He said, “even me as your teacher is still on the learning process. Nobody has perfect knowledge of Al-Qur’an. If I decided not to teach because I am still on the learning process, how about teaching the other? no worries, Al-Qur’an is mutawatir (connected to Rasulullah ﷺ) and Allah ﷻ Himself guarding Al Qur’an. As long as you always open your mind and keep the learning process, insyaAllah you will be in the correct way”
So, I wrapped up my mind and decided to start my journey from this blog.
First, I would like to explain the mistakes that usually happen in Surah Al-Fatihah (The Opening). This beautiful surah is very important since this surah is included as Rukun in Shalah. When you did a mistake, your Shalah will be not perfect.
Here are the common mistakes that usually happen:
- Not recite ta’awudz. The redaction is:
أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ
(A’udzu billahi minasy syaithonir rojiim)
(I take refuge in Allah from the temptations of the accursed Satan)
- Misspell between ‘ain (ع) and alif (ا)
- Misspell between Ha’ ( ه) and ha (ح )
- Humming too long in Lam tasydid, not it Mim or Nun tasydid
- Spelling Ale, not Al in Alhamdulillah
- Humming in An’amta
- So on
Many other common mistake that not only happened on Al-Fatihah, but also in other surahs. You can check this video for the clearer explanation.
